Make your own PVR

I need your help in coming up with the hardware /software spec for a film watching device that is hooked up to a free to air digital satellite and the web via wireless. I'd like to (1) programme it with a front end like TIVO (2) download stuff via RSS and Bit torrent. The front end that seems to do this is MythTV. I'm thinking it is a small silent box with a large internal hard disk, a TV tuner, encoder and surround sound. Most importantly it needs to be incredibly cheap. Thoughts? I am particularly clueless on how to set up a sateillte dish and transponder.

If we come up with a good solution, maybe we can get rich by making them and selling them to idiots on ebay (I'd certainly buy one if it existed) a bit like this or this but open source

How to load up iTunes with free video

1. Go to the del.icio.us page of Quicktime .mov files, which is http://del.icio.us/tag/system:filetype:mov.
2. Add tags at the end of that URL which indicate the kind of movies you want. For .mov files tagged “funny,” you’d go to http://del.icio.us/tag/system:filetype:mov+funny.
3. At the bottom of that page, copy and paste the RSS feed of those videos using the orange RSS button.
4. In iTunes, go to Podcasts. In the Advanced menu, choose “Subscribe to Podcast.” Paste the URL you just copied.

Version control and tracking

Hello all
Need a bit of steer.

We have to change a large number of assets - .gifs, .jpgs, .swfs.
We need a tool that we can use to:
- track what's been updated
- what they look like (preferably next to one another)
- whether they've been signed off

Does anyone know of a cheap system that would let up do this?
Or do we need to construct our own database (with various admin permissions - upload/view and signoff) which can display thumbnail, name, size, type, updated, signed off yes/no etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
